Trust & Safety
Trust is the whole business. Without it, a marketplace for pre-owned books, coins, and collectibles becomes a scam magnet. Here is exactly what we do to prevent that, and what you should watch out for as a buyer or seller.
Minimum trust stack — every listing
- 🪪 Seller KYC before high-value listings go live
- 📱 Phone verification for every seller
- 💬 WhatsApp Business verified number for all mediated conversations
- 🔍 Moderated listings only — nothing publishes without human review
- 📸 Mandatory, category-specific photo rules
- 📋 Structured condition disclosure forms, not free-text guesses
- ⭐ Buyer and seller ratings after every closed deal
- 📦 Proof-of-dispatch and proof-of-receipt on every shipped order
- ⚖️ A structured dispute workflow, see below
Extra safeguards for coins & collectibles
- 📜 Mandatory provenance / acquisition history field
- 🔎 Close-up image rules (obverse, reverse, edge, scale reference)
- ⚠️ Mandatory defect disclosure checklist
- 🎓 Optional expert authentication for high-value items
- ⏳ Longer transaction hold period before payout
How settlement works
Not every order settles the same way. We use three transaction modes depending on item value and category risk:
Mode A — Direct Lead (buyer & seller settle, platform facilitates)
Used for low-value books. Simple and fast, with the platform facilitating contact and logging the conversation.
Mode B — Assisted Payment (pay to platform, payout after delivery confirmation)
Used for mid-value orders. The buyer pays into a platform-held payment link, the seller ships, and payout happens after delivery is confirmed.
Mode C — Escrow / Inspection Hold (funds held until inspection window closes)
Used for rare coins and collectibles. Funds are held until an inspection window closes, protecting against counterfeits, non-delivery, and item-switching.
Risks buyers should know about
No marketplace can eliminate risk entirely. These are the main risks we actively design against — please read before you buy:
- • Fake or misrepresented items — mitigated by mandatory photos, condition forms, and moderation
- • Fake sellers — mitigated by phone/WhatsApp verification and KYC on high-value sellers
- • Off-platform deal leakage — never pay a seller directly outside obs.sale; we cannot protect off-platform payments
- • Disputes over condition — mitigated by structured disclosure forms and proof-of-receipt
- • Pricing ambiguity — always confirm final price and terms in writing on WhatsApp before paying
- • Logistics damage — use our recommended shipping SOP and photograph items before dispatch
Dispute workflow
- Raise the issue on WhatsApp with our team, or flag it from your order thread
- We collect evidence: listing photos, shipping proof, delivery proof, and conversation history
- For escrow orders, payout is paused until the dispute is resolved
- Our team issues a resolution — refund, partial refund, replacement coordination, or deal closure
- Repeat offenders (buyer or seller) are removed from the platform
